How introspection, strategy, and soul shaped Intrinsic Maven
This isn't just a note, it's the story of how Intrinsic Maven came to be.
In this reflection, I share how personal growth, client transformation, and creative clarity became the foundation of our studio's philosophy.
If you've ever wondered what it really means to brand with intention, this is where it all starts.
From the Maven Diary
Series: Meet The IM Team
Stories, reflections, and behind-the-scenes moments from the people who bring Intrinsic Maven to life.

I’m Mary, Brand Strategist at Intrinsic Maven.
Intrinsic Maven didn't begin as a business plant. It grew from years of listening, learning, and choosing a different path.
I studied both business and design, completed the courses, attended the workshops, and read the books.
But the turning point came when I realized something deeper:
Brands don't come alive through strategy alone. They grow when people are given space to reflect, evolve, and build with clarity.
That insight changed everything.
Today, I help organizations and founders build clarity-led brands - aligned, strategic, and grounded in meaning.
My work meets strategy and soul: leading brand discovery, shaping messaging, designing digital experiences, and stewarding each brand journey from vision to implementation.
Clients often describe me as a quiet force.
Their own brand therapist.
The one who helps them see what they're building, even before they can fully name it.
I'll be the first to tell you I don't have all the answers, but I've learned how to listen deeply and actively.
This work is deeply personal.
I don't just want your brand to succeed. I want it to feel like yours; honest, aligned, and true to who you are.
Because at the end of the day, brands are built by people and people don't leave their stories, values, experiences, or aspirations at the door.
Outside of work, I'm a wife, a mom to my teenage son Kaden, a curious traveler, and a foodie at heart.
My husband Jose, Kaden, and I love exploring new places together and are always in search of our next memorable meal.
Some of our favorite family memories have happened around a table, whether that's a neighborhood restaurant, a hidden local gem, or somewhere halfway across the world.
I've been known to plan entire trips around a restaurant, a local dish, or the promise of a great cup of coffee. And the funny thing is, Kaden says he remembers things by the dishes we ate, he's most definitely my son.
I also train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, something I originally started because of Kaden. What began as a way to bond with my son became one of the most rewarding personal growth journeys of my adult life. Jiu-jitsu has taught me patience, humility, resilience, and the importance of showing up before you feel ready.
Looking back, many of those same lessons show up in branding too. Growth isn't always linear. Clarity takes time, and some of the most meaningful transformations happen through consistent effort rather than dramatic moments.
Outside of strategy sessions, you'll often find me writing down observations, collecting stories, and reflecting on the conversations, experiences, and moments that eventually inspire my work.
Lately, I've become increasingly interested in the relationship between conversations, culture, connection, and the role they play in shaping brands, communities, and meaningful work.
Because branding isn't just about how something looks.
It's about how people connect to it.
And perhaps more importantly, how they connect to each other through it.
Branding isn't a finish line. It's an unfolding.
I'm not here to build louder brands.
I'm here to help build truer ones.
Branding isn’t a finish line, it’s an unfolding. I’m not here to build louder brands. I’m here to help you build truer ones.
